Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ban Chiang, 1st millennium BCE. A beautiful bichrome pottery vessel of a relatively squat yet elegant form with a sinuous profile and splayed foot as well as intricate red on cream painted decoration comprised of (from top to bottom) a narrow band of four striations adorning the shoulder, a wide central register of meandering spirals, and a splayed foot with slight remains of red pigment characteristic of Ban Chiang wares. Size: 6.125" in diameter x 5.375" H (15.6 cm x 13.7 cm)
