André Hamburg paints landscapes, seascapes. Lithographer, draftsman, decorator, he travels a lot and brings back from his stays many preparatory drawings to illustrate bibliophila, especially on
Normandy and its beaches, Provence and its markets. In 1933 he wins the prize of French West Africa.
Official painter of the Navy since 1952, he shares his life between the Normandy coast - he owns a house in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, which is one of his favorite subjects. In 2007, his wife Nicole
Rachet donates 71 of his works (paintings, prints and drawings) to the National Maritime Museum.
