Provenance:

Built in 1901, the Legget House in Carthage, Missouri is an example of Classical Revival architecture and is an important historical monument in the region. Built entirely of locally quarried Carthage Stone that was cut and fitted on the grounds of the property, the Leggett House stands to this day as a visual representation of the resourcefulness, ingenuity, and vision of the people of Missouri. The 5-bedroom house was built for J.P. Leggett, president of Leggett & Platt Spring Bed Manufacturing Co. and Bank of Carthage, making this home a cherished landmark within the Carthage community. The preservation of Leggett House allows visitors a glimpse into the past, reflecting the architectural trends and social dynamics of its time.
Andy Thomas was born in Carthage, Missouri in 1957 and spent 16 years of his career working for Leggett & Platt as Vice President of Marketing.
