More than any other artist of his generation, Andy Warhol understood how the reproduced image had come to reflect and shape contemporary life. With his choice of iconic images, Warhol had discovered a powerful vehicle for exploring and exploiting the symbols of popular culture. Coca-Cola is a perfect example of the artist’s homage to advertising, highlighting the relationship of consumerism between big business and the public.
