Anthropomorphic statuette. Baule culture, Ivory Coast. First half of the 20th century. Wood with a crusty patina. Height: 33 cm; Length: 20 cm; Thickness: 8. 5 cm. A peculiar statuette with the raised virtually placed in a fetal position. Its head is topped with a central-edged hulled cap. The eyes are two slightly concave circular lozenges, the mouth is suggested, the umbilical is slightly in relief, accentuating a round belly. The feet are short, and the legs are, arranged on either side of important genitals. Provenance: Former Mark Eglinton collection.
