Anthropomorphic statuette Baoulé culture, Ivory Coast Second half of the 20th century Wood and cotton Height: 35 cm; length: 9 cm; thickness: 10 cm (ancient crack) Female statuette standing with her hands on her stomach on either side of her umbilicus. Her individualized short legs rest on feet with incised toes, themselves placed on a square base. She wears a belt of tinted cotton yarn. The emphasis is on her head, which is somewhat disproportionate. Her headdress is incised with fine stripes, her forehead is bulging, her eyes are almond-shaped, her nose is long and her mouth has thin lips. She has geometric scarification on the temples and belly. Her neck is adorned with a carved choker.
