Antique 1836 Military Art - New England Guardsman - Hand-Lithography, Pendleton, Boston

"Tucker's Quick Step, as performed by the Boston Brass Band" Composed and Dedicated to Capt. Alanson Tucker Jr. and the Officers and Members of the New England Guards, by S. Knaebel, published by Parker and Ditson, Boston, Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1836 by Parker and Ditson in the Clerk's office of the District court of Massachusetts. First edition, First print, 1836.

Two separate sheets [4 pages]: title page, two pages of sheet music, one blank 9.5/8" x 13" [ 24.4cm x 36cm], some wear a few edge creases, very good condition. [Note: this copy is in better condition than the copies located in the Library of Congress and Boston Athenaeum].

The image of New England Guardsman is a hand-lithography [drawn on lithographic limestone] signed "Pendleton's Lithog. Boston."

Simon Knaebel (1812-c.1880). American composer, arranger, horn player, violinist, cellist, and pianist of German origin. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1830s and took up residence in Boston, where he became well known as an arranger for Ned Kendall's Boston Brass Band.
