Antique Ceremonial Bronze Drinking Vessel, Laos
Ceremonial bronze drinking vessel, northern Laos, estimated 17th/18th century. Little is known about these rare vessels but the variation in content and proportion of metals that comprise the bronze in each cup creates a unique color, oxidation and, over time, patina, that would indicate that the metals were donated, perhaps as silverware, cups, pitchers, jewelry, to make merit toward the creation of a spiritual object. Size: 7.25'' x 3.5'' x 2'' (18 x 9 x 5 cm). Provenance: Lee and Vichai Chinalai collection.
