Antique Hard Stone Cameo Ring, Conversion in 14k & 18k

[ translate ]

One of the things I love about antique jewelry is that it has to be the world's best recyclable! This wonderful and clever bit of recycling features an antique hard stone cameo that probably started out life as the head of a stick pin, but has been re-imagined into this lovely and stylish and eminently more wearable ring. A true sign that classical beauty never goes out of fashion!; The top of the ring, in which the cameo is mounted, is the original head of the stick pin and was hand crafted with a lovely twisted wire-work frame in 14 karat gold. The hand crafted ring shank has been designed with the perfect classical accents to compliment the cameo, it is crafted in 18 karat gold, and is marked as such inside the band. The top dates to about 1880, the shank shows some signs of wear, so I would say the conversion was probably done some 20 years ago or more. The stone is carnelian and the carving is of a lovely Grecian woman in profile, it has a wonderful orange-rose color, there is a slight chip in the stone at the bottom in the white frame, it's visible in the close up photo, it's very small but bears mentioning. The ring is a size 7.5 and could be sized up or down, the shank is quite substantial and the ring weighs 5.2 grams.;
