Title: Antique Japanese Handpainted Imari Porcelain Bowl ca. 1900
Size: 7" diameter x 2 1/2" tall
Description:Lovely nicely-shaped medium-sized Imari porcelain bowl three irregularly placed panels on the inside, inspired by fabric designs,. The panels are painted with designs of flowers, plants, grasses, water and butterflies in cobalt blue under-glaze and green, red, pale blue, aubergine over-glaze enamels and gilding. The painting is very controlled but fluid. The rim is painted inside and outside with under glaze blue in a cross hatch pattern. The outside of the bowl contains 3 nearly identical floral designs. The base is painted with circles in under glaze blue. MEASUREMENTS7" diameter x 2 1/2" tall CONDITIONIt has no cracks or chips. It has minor enamel loss to the inside bottom, and the typical frits and pin holes, but is otherwise perfect. The rim of the base has wear from age. A very pretty bowl with a striking geometric patchwork design.
