Antique Japanese Raku Teabowl & Box

Antique Japanese Raku Teabowl covered all over in a lustrous black glaze, the foot rim with 3 spur marks from the original firing; Japanese wood storage box. Bowl in good condition with several hairlines or firing cracks not clearly visible on boack glaze apparently with old black lacquer repairs. Height 3 1/2 inches (8.9 cm.) X diameter at mouth 4 inches (10.3 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased at PB84, a subsidiary of Sotheby Parke Bernet in the early 1980's.
