Antique Museum Quality Giocanni Noto 14K Cameo

[ translate ]

Antique Museum Quality Cameo and 14k Gold by Giovanni Noto – This is a rare hand signed piece by famed artist Giovanni Noto signed G. Noto. While his advanced students also would use his signature at times, we believe this to be a cameo by the master himself given the quality of the carving, the signature and the spectacular gold frame. The carving, which depicts a Muse playing the harp flanked by 2 cherubs, is crisp, deeply 3 dimensional and very detailed. All hallmarks of this master who was called “professor” and Michelangelo’s chisel. The cameo was made in Torre del Greco Italy of carnelian shell cameo. The 14K gold frame is also a work of art and makes this piece even more rare. It is equally detailed with tiny seed pearls adorning calla lilies on each side of the piece. A truly one of a kid piece of history. The brooch has a 14k gold frame (marked on clasp) with a swivel bail to easily convert it to a pendant. The brooch has a a swivel bail to easily convert it to a pendant. Approximately 2.25” in diameter and 21 grams inclusive.
