Antique Victoria Carlsbad Porcelain Coffee Server, Tea Pot 1890s Austria
Antique porcelain pitcher, coffee server or teapot marked "Victoria Carlsbad, Austria." This particular porcelain mark was in use 1891-1918. [In 1918, the city of Karlsbad became a part of a newly founded Czechoslovakia and officially renamed Karlovy Vary]
The coffee pot is 8.1/2" [21.6cm] tall without lid and 10.3/4" [27.3cm] tall including lid, c.6" [15.3cm] wide including handle, 3.1/2" [8.9cm] across at the bottom; green and white glazes decorated in gold. There is a 3" [7.6cm] long hairline on one side [see photo]; otherwise very good condition.
The factory was established in 1883 in Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) by a London company Lazarus & Rosenfeld Ltd. In 1885 it was bought by Franz Schmidt and renamed Porzellanfabrik Victoria Schmidt & Co. In 1927 it was transformed into a stock company Porzellanfabrik Victoria AG. In 1945 the factory together with the Altrohlau Porcelain Company became a part of state owned EPIAG / Starorolsky Porcelan and in 1958 Karlovarsky Porcelan Stara Role II. Nowadays it is a part of Thun Karlovarsky Porcelan.
