It was designed in many forms, such as a continuous rigid lined form, like on this locket, or as a curved and angular variation based on spiral scrolls and circles. The Georgian Era saw the rediscovery of Pompeii and Herculaneum in Italy. It was only a matter of time before architecture was inspired by the highly detailed interiors of these cities’ buildings. Jewelry followed thereafter and aided in the neoclassical and Greek Revival movements.; This antique Victorian gold and enamel locket was handcrafted around 1850 in England. It’s a versatile accessory as it also works as a pendant. It is oval, made in 15 karat gold, and features a shield design with a Greek key motif in turquoise blue enamel on the front. When opened, this locket reveals a photograph of a Victorian lady dressed in stripes with a cross draped around her neck. Across from her is another frame awaiting a photograph of your choice. Overall, it measures 35 x 23 x 6.5 mm and weighs 7.9 grams.
