Antique Victorian 15k gold (tested) pocket case with dip pen and mechanical pencil with bloodstone seal end. Made in England, London, Ca. 1850's Maker: Francis Mordan Case is made from 15 K gold, seal is made from bloodstone with etched Crane holding a fish. Dip pen is engraved with F. Mordan, London, Serial Nr. 37655 Mechanical pencil has engraved M letter. Measurements: Length: 11. 5cm Diameter: 1. 2 cm Dip pen: 3. 6 cm length Mechanical pencil: 5 cm length Weight: 18 grams Francis Mordan established a fountain pen making business at 6 Goswell Street, Clerkenwell in London, in the late 1830s. He specialised in the manufacture of gold-nibbed pens that were made to a very high standard, each one being individually numbered.
