Apulian Pottery Skyphos

**First Time At Auction**

Magna Graecia, Apulian, ca. 4th century BCE. A tall blackware pottery drinking cup, known as a skyphos, with a ringed foot, a flared body, thin rim, and twin applied looped handles. The entire interior cavity and most exterior surfaces are generously adorned with a lustrous black glaze that has developed a mirrorlike iridescence, save a narrow creamy pink slip band framed by two russet red striations around the lower walls above the base and the creamy pink band around the lower foot. Size: 5.2" W x 2.6" H (13.2 cm x 6.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Roy Green, Birmingham, Alabama, USA, acquired before 2015 from major New York galleries
