Archaic Greek Silver Torq w/ 15K+ Gold Terminals
Ancient Greece, Archaic period, ca. 7th to 6th century BCE. A fabulous silver torq (also torc) bracelet of a circular form with a pair of thick terminals that wrap around the body. The body of the torq is formed from high-grade (96%) silver and has a slender body that wraps just slightly more than once around. The cylindrical iron terminal caps feature delicate zigzagging filigree adornments between solid strips, and the exterior surfaces are covered in a fine layer of 67% gold (equivalent to 15K+ gold). Size: 3.6" Diameter (9.1 cm); (wrist opening): 3" W (7.6 cm); quality of silver: 96%; quality of gilding: 67% (equivalent to 15K+); total weight: 81.2 grams.
