Description A JAIN WHITE MARBLE ARCHITECTURAL FRAGMENT OF A PARIKARA, EARLY 13TH CENTURY India, Rajasthan. this architectural 3 pieces elements clearly indicate that this was a basement of the entrance of a parikara. ( Please check picture of dilwara temple to compare) This 3 elements are form same origin what is rare in actual market Here we have from up to down first level in center female divinity ( Lakshmi ? ? ? ) and on left and rigth singha and olifant with under the divinity The Dharma Chakra ( wheels of Dharma) . Under Sanskrit inscription who must probably explain story of this level. second level is same iconography with more sanskrit inscription Last level put in the middle the Dharma Chakra with again olifant and singha on each side The white marble used for this piece is the same material as used for the Dilwara Temples. These Jain temples were built by Vimal Shah and designed by Vastupala, Jain minister of Dholka, between the 11th and 16th centuries and are famous for their use of white marble and intricate marble carvings. They are a pilgrimage place of the Jains, and a popular general tourist attraction. Although Jains built many beautiful temples at other places in Rajasthan, the Dilwara temples are believed to be the most beautiful example of architectural perfection. Note - dimension including stand 97 X 33 X 75 cm Datation End of 12 century - Early 13th century / C. 1200 Weigth +/- 250 KG Condition Good global condition with sign of ages and lacks visible on pictures Please check pictures for global condition Important color of the marble is ligth yellow white and is the result of unclean marble some sediment can be found on empty area of carving and coming from a longterm weathering process and longtime exposition. Provenance Private collection R. Mines Luxembourg collection acquired in the beginning of 90 by the father C. Mines. Delivery For luxembourg the delivery will be made by the seller.
