Art Deco - Pin-up with mask and cape (1)

Beautifully detailed representation in oil on board of a naked lady wearing a mask and cape who 'looks into the camera' or looks at the viewer (read: voyeur) . So it is a kind of peepshow-like performance in which you as a viewer are made complicit in some secret, or rather: something naughty. The pin-up had been on the rise since the 1920s, where scantily dressed ladies could be pinned to the wall (in the form of photos, posters or illustrations) . Artists such as Al Moore, Gil Elvgren, Mel Ramos and Milo Manara continued this more or less erotic tradition in the 1950s and well into the 1990s. And still the pin-up hasn't disappeared from the palette. Of the pin-up girl offered here, the creator is unknown, although the work is marked with monogram 'AC'.
