Hard boards, original olive cloth with gold stamped coat of arms on the front board and gold lettering on spine [a little edge wear and a little soiling: see photos]; folio: 11.3/4" x 14"; 159 monotone and color reproductions, 322 pages including Index of Names and Abbreviations Used in the Catalogue Bibliographies. Stains on the outer edges of the pages, the upper side of the pages is slightly bumped at the hinge; very good condition.

Contents includes: A Sense of Tradition, Introduction, and "The Love of Art" [the History of Liechtenstein art collection] by Reinhold Baumstark -- Italian painting -- Early Netherlandish painting -- Flemish painting -- Dutch painting -- German painting -- French painting.

Each presented artwork includes b/w or color reproduction, explanatory essay about the artwork and short biographical essay about the artist.

This volume contains not only the works of the famous artists, but also a large number of artworks by the secondary or less known artists underrepresented in the majority of art historical publications.
