attributed CHAGALL, Marc, (Russian/French, 1887-1985): Still life of flowers and pitcher in water, secondary image of three figures lower right, Watercolor/Pencil on Paper, inscription lower right reads "Hernz und Fran Troper mit Dank und grussen", and double signed Marc Chagall, dated 1941. General Morris Troper, at the time important individuals in the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, assisted Chagall in getting his daughter Ida out of Europe during WWII, we believe this was presented as a thank you gift to the Tropers. 14" x 11", framed 21" x 18". Provenance: Given to the current owner as collateral for a $35,000 loan in the 1970's, unfortunately no other information available.
