Attributed to Joseph Siffred Duplessis (1725-1802) French. A Portrait of a Wigged Man, possibly Etienne-Alexandre-Jacques Anisson-Dupéron (1749-1794), Oil on Canvas, Oval, 25" x 21.25" (63.5 x 54cm). Notes: during the early years of the French Revolution, Anisson-Duperon was appointed as Head of the Imprimerie Nationale. However, due to his connection to the Royal Court, in 1792 he was forced to renounce his position in the family business. His house and collection of art was sold to benefit the revolutionary cause. He was arrested in March 1794 and condemned to death by execution. He died at the guillotine on April 25 1794.
