Frame dimensions: 95 x 145 cm

Auguste Henri Musin (1852–1923) was a leading Belgian painter, known for his maritime scenes that captured the atmosphere and life around ports, coasts, and the sea. Born in Ostend, he was influenced by his father, François Musin, also a respected marine painter. However, Auguste developed his own style, which combined a realistic approach with subtle influences of early Impressionism. Musin achieved fame throughout Europe, where he won medals at exhibitions in cities such as Paris and London. He received special recognition for his detailed seascapes at the Paris World Exhibition of 1889.

Musin's work often focused on fishing boats, beach scenes and coastal views, in which he captured the subtle play of light and weather conditions on water and ships. His paintings were popular with collectors in both Europe and America and are now in collections all over the world, including museums in Belgium, Spain and France. He also collaborated on publications and illustrated books on Belgian maritime life.
