Austrian School, 18th Century
Portrait of a singer with her accompanist
Portrait of a singer with her accompanist
oil on canvas
92.8 x 120.6cm (36 9/16 x 47 1/2in).
A possible identification for the singer might be the contralto Faustina Bordoni (1693-1783) a portrait of whom is held in the collection of the Handel Museum, London. In this case the musician at the clavichord could be her husband, the composer Johann Adolf Hasse (1699-1783).
