A selection of notes, manuscripts, documents and ephemera, including: a small archive of letters relating to General Sir James Archibald Hope, GCB; a small archive of letters to or regarding Lieutenant Colonel Sir Charles Cayler; a signed photograph of Geoffrey Tyson, a test pilot; copy of a proclamation/ propaganda newspaper by Lord Kitchener dated 7th August 1901 and addressed to Boer leaders Louis Botha and Martinus Steyn; an appointment letter to Frances Robert Wrottesley as a Naval Commander; a group of handwritten documents in French dated 1799 onwards, annotated in English regarding relations between French and British admirals (Admiral Duncan (1731-1804) and others); manuscript poem late c18th “Brave sons of St Patrick to arms once more …”; a group South-American navigational documents including Directions for entering the river Orinoko”, document written in Valparaiso in 1827 (qty); a small collection of military and financial accounting slips and documents including that for The Royal George at Portsmouth; plus assorted correspondence etc (qty).
