The central theme of Mlenek's pictorial creations is the human body. As in the present work, it is Mlenek's expressively stylised brushwork that lends his works power and presence. This is a typical work for the artist, in which the human being is represented in a shadowy back view. A vehement forward movement emanates from the abstract pictorial protagonist, who seems to dissolve into mere streaks of colour, giving the representation a victorious expression. His oeuvre as a whole can be located both in the realm of the gestural-expressive and in the realm of the figurative. The expressionist Mlenek won numerous prizes and recognitions. Most recently, his works were on display at the Leopold Museum in Vienna, the Grenz Kunst Halle in Jennersdorf and the Museum Angerlehner in Thalheim near Wels, among others.
