Bactrian Bronze Stamp Seal w/ Curvilinear Motif

Ancient Central Asia, Bactria, ca. 2500 to 2000 BCE. A cast-bronze stamp seal of a petite size depicting an intricate curvilinear motif along the stamp face. The seal features an ovoid stamp face with a sloped shoulder and a perforated, drop-form handle that could be strung on a bracelet or necklace strand. The stamp details include a trio of open-ended, tendril-like spirals that coil away from one another and create a rounded triangular profile when pressed into either wax or putty. Custom putty impression included. Size: 0.75" W x 0.875" H (1.9 cm x 2.2 cm); 2.125" H (5.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired from Venus Gallery, Israel, in 2002

Condition Report: Stamp handle pinned into back of lucite display stand as shown. Light encrustations within some recessed areas of stamp face, with minor abrasions, otherwise intact and very good. Great green and brown patina throughout.
