[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $1800**

Central Asia, Bactria, ca. mid 1st millennium BCE. An elegant redware wheel-thrown pottery jar of large form featuring a circular corseted base with impressively thin walls that spread outwards to a bulbous body slightly tapering at its top to form a lipped rim. Numerous horizontal registers of impressed patterns adorn the sides of this remarkable ancient vessel, some among them are parallel horizontal striations, a repetitive rainbow-shaped motif, net-like incisions, and zig-zags, which cover the entire lower half. Truly in remarkable condition for its age, this is a fantastic utilitarian example from a past culture! Size: 12.25" Diameter x 17.5" H (31.1 cm x 44.4 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection acquired before 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
