FIRST EDITION, 3 volumes, folio (490 x 320mm.), 320 lithographed plates, 3 folding maps, preface in volume 1 and 3, introduction, instruction-slip and index, contents loose (gutta-percha perished) in original cloth-backed boards, paper label on upper covers and spines, minor browning, tears to edges, very slightly worn

THE FIRST PUBLISHED EDITION of these plates, reproduced by photolithography. It took five years to reach the end of the Australian section, at which point the project was closed.
