Literature: Shelved after being created for Banksy’s 2006 ‘Barely Legal’ exhibition, this version of ‘Sale Ends’ was released to commemorate the closing of print house Pictures on Walls in 2017. Within it, cloaked men and women lament and plead before an advertisement announcing the end of a sale. The classical formation, recalling Renaissance depictions of the crucifixion, critiques the religious fervor that surrounds modern consumerism. It also acts as an appropriate tribute to the final days of the acclaimed print shop.
