Elegant bedspread in pure hand drawn linen thread embroidered in Sicilian drawn thread with Burano lace applications. Made in Sicily in the 1950s/60s. Large bedspread hand drawn on loom and richly embroidered in Sicilian drawn thread with refined Burano lace applications, on high quality linen, this item was made in a monastery by nuns, for personal wedding trousseau, all strictly handmade by expert and competent hands. This item was not made for the commercial market, to be purchased and sold 4 or 5 times, with relative surcharges, which would necessarily lower the quality, but it was made by wise hands for a rich and elegant personal wedding trousseau with linen of the highest quality linen, purchased personally and with a lot of time invested in it. Months and months of work with very high costs, justified by the immense precision work, not commercial. In Sicily it was common, especially among noble families, days before the wedding, to exhibit the trousseau to show the masterpieces prepared for the bride, the bedspread is like new, it has never been used nor washed and might show some small stains due to storage but it’s in perfect condition.
