Belgium - artisan belge - remington 1858 - arme en coffret - Percussion - Revolver - 44

[ translate ]

1858 Remington, Belgian-made, in its transport box with all its accessories. In the 19th century, the Belgians copied (legally or not) practically everything that was done in terms of weapons, The weapon bears the 19th century Liège hallmark, and has no other marking/signature, except for assembly and workshop punches (large letter ‘R’) . The weapon works normally, in superb condition, and is presented in a box with its accessories: a very unusual gunpowder flask with automatic dosage, and a bullet mould that could mould 6 bullets (a cylinder’s worth) in one go, a small oil bottle, a chimney-piece disassembler (remade or original?) and a box of primers. The lid-closing system is curious: an articulated rod keeps it open, for display. The lock on the case works, the key is present. The set is lined with blue woollen fabric in good condition. The box bears the seller's mark: Camille Blanc, gunsmith in Saint Etienne since 1840.
