Belt plaque (1) - Jade - Goose, Autumn reeds, Lotus- A good pale celadon jade belt plaque春山秋水玉 - China - Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)

A good pale celadon jade belt plaque, the slightly domed oval plaque well carved in pierced low relief, with a flying goose plunging among autumn reeds and lotus to evade the hunters, skilfully carved, utilising the russet skin of the original jade pebble, to highlight the head, wings and body of the goose, the underside left unpolished. Good condition， see photos. 'Autumn mountains, spring waters': these objects from the Qing court collection are highly comparable in subject and style to the present lot. Of the two objects, no. 49,described as Liao or Jin, seems more similar, in its flatter more linear carving, than do the softer more rounded forms of no. 73,which they identify as Song or Yuan.
