Bible from the press of the prolific Strasbourg printer Johann Reinhard Grüninger. The woodcut on the title depicts Saint Jerome—both in his study and praying at the foot of the cross. This copy is extensively annotated. HC 3122*; BMC I 111; BSB-Ink B-476; GW 4277; Bod-inc B-308; Goff B-600; ISTC ib00600000.

Chancery folio (304 x 207mm). 490 leaves (of 492, without blank Z6 and the final leaf of the table; bifolium from gathering B bound in A). Red and blue Lombard capitals, woodcut of Saint Jerome on title (first bifolium heavily repaired at gutter and outside edges, first leaf soiled, chipped, and laid down on new paper, smaller repairs and tears throughout, one larger repaired tear affecting text on ss2, dampstaining and soiling, especially at ends, worming affecting text, final leaf heavily repaired with loss of text at outer edge). Modern black blindstamped morocco with clasps to style, gilt edges (a little wear). Provenance: extensive marginalia in several hands – Georgius Wenceslaus, Pastor of Olbersdorf (inscription dated 1635, stating he bought it from Samuel Ursinus) – acquired from Lucien Dorborn, 20 December 1955.
