Blackie and Son Ltd, a quantity of books with decorative covers, some in the ‘Glasgow school’ style and by Talwin Morris, Late 19th and early 20th Century, Cloth biddings and comprising:- twenty-two books with covers attributed to or designed by Talwin Morris (British 1865-1911); there are eight books with the same cover design that are sometimes attributed (not proven) to Charles Rennie Mackintosh and a single book ‘The Four Miss Whittingtons’ by Geraldine Mockler, sometimes mentioned as a cover by Mackintosh (not proven); together with seventeen Blackie and Son books with various decorative covers; together with six Angela Brazil books with figurative covers and a book by Walter Rhoades ‘For the sake of his Chum – A School Story’ with figurative cover; together with ‘Sister-Songs’ By Francis Thompson, published John Lane at the Bodley Head, 1895, with frontispiece, title page and cover design by Laurence Housman; and four books with decorative covers by various publishers; Cautionary Tales for Children’ with verses by H. Belloc and pictures by B.T.B; Studio publication ‘The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours’ with personalised inscription for 1906; and three Riverside Edition works of Dickens, published by Hurd & Houghton, New York 1875 ‘Pictures from Italy.
