[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $800**

Greek, Archaic Period, Boeotian, ca. 550 BCE. A hand-built pottery warrior figure depicted as a canine seated atop an integral cylindrical stool. The lightly-flared base traces up to form the figure's stocky chest, with the right arm raised and the hand pierced as if to hold an inserted weapon or war horn, and the left lowered and holding a circular shield with a protruding central boss. The almost cynocephalic head is turned slightly to the right and has a conical snout, pulled-back ovoid ears, and a back-swept crested helmet. Painted in pale-orange slip, this is a fine example from ancient Boeotia! Size: 2.7" W x 5.2" H (6.9 cm x 13.2 cm).

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
