8vo, English and Irish title pages, double column, the Book of Common Prayer in Irish for the most part and in Irish and English for certain parts, the Psalms in Irish only, contemporary calf, raised bands on spine, some browning and slight staining, binding rather worn and chipped along edges and spine
The second edition of the Book of Common Prayer issued for the use in Ireland. The following sections are printed in English and Irish: Morning & Evening Prayer, the Litany, Prayers upon several occasions (C-H3r), the Communion Service etc. (Aa1-Ss4v), the XXXIX Articles. The preliminaries are printed in Irish in Roman letter, the Table of Lessons is in English only (e-f, 4 leaves). The Irish title-page is printed partly in Irish letter and partly in Irish in Roman letter. The type used is the same as that specially made (small pica) by Moxon for the first edition of the Old Testament in Irish (1685).
