By CAULFIELD, PATRICK
Silkscreen by Patrick Caulfield printed on machine made paper with a printed signature. The sheet has some light handling marks /folds, otherwise in very good condition.Image size 47 x 45 cm, Sheet size 51 x 49 cmMade/designed in 1966 just after Caulfield had left the Royal College of Art and worked with the Gallery owner Robert Fraser. A leading figure of the Pop movement in the mid 1960 s period, Robert Fraser and Giorgio Marconi worked together to promote their artists. Studio Marconi had only been open since 1965, just a year, yet showed international artists whom are now very well known. This is a very rare early silkscreen Poster by Patrick Caulfield. Not listed in the Catalogue Raisonné but it has been authenticated by Alan Cristea who compiled Patrick Caulfield. The Complete Prints. For the signed and numbered limited edition of 75 copies, the silkscreen was issued on fine Fabriano wove paper. This silkscreen is printed on machine made paper, similar to the poster that I also have for sale, using the same printing process but without the paper loosely attached on top. I suspect this was printed by Sergio Tosi printer Milan, Italy. He worked with various publishers and artists alike, including Marconi Gallery, producing art works and books and posters.
