Box - Elephant ivory - With Shibayama peony inlay, cherry blossoms and butterflies - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) Rare rectangular ivory box with refined shibayama decoration with floral pattern. Excellent general condition of the shibayama decoration. The box has 2 light veins on the joints of the lid. A Japanese item from the Meiji period. The item was produced prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations regarding the sale of ivory.
