Remington was born in Canton, New York, in 1861, and was a painter, illustrator, sculptor and writer, specializing in the Old American West, specifically cowboys and Indians. Remington’s cousin, Eliphalet Remington, was founder of the Remington Arms Company, America’s oldest gun maker and well as being a distant relative of General George Washington, our first president. Remington was married to his childhood sweetheart Eva Adele Caten and had no children.
