Scarce, attractive double hemisphere map shows the Western Hemisphere with California drawn as an island off the western coast of North America. Engraved by Buffier for the 1764 edition of his "Amerique Universelle." On the Eastern Hemisphere map only the western coast of Australia is drawn, as the eastern coast had not yet been charted by Capt. Cook who surveyed it in 1769.
Condition Report: Original folds, some faint toning and foxing; appears about near fine; not examined outside frame.
