[ translate ]

CHILDE HASSAM
1859 - 1935
TOP OF FORT GEORGE

signed Childe Hassam and dated April 28th 1920 (lower left); also initialed CH and dated 1920 (on a piece of the original backing board affixed to the reverse)
oil on panel
10 ¾ by 15 inches
(27.3 by 38.1 cm)

This work will be included in Stuart P. Feld's and Kathleen M. Burnside's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's work.

Condition Report:
The panel is affixed to a secondary support and there are wood spacers affixed to the edges. There are some horizontal surface cracks that are consistent with the grain of the panel and the work appears to be slightly dirty. Under UV: there are a few thin lines of inpainting to address cracking at lower left. Some other pigments fluoresce but appear to be the artist's original work.

Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
