CHINESE CARVED JADE "LONGMA" DISC
Ca.1644-1911; Qing dynasty or earlier. A superb quality jadeite Bi-disc well-carved to both sides of the surface with elaborate figural scenes depicting a man surrounded by mythical beasts. One of the dragon resembling the legendary "longma" also called "the dragon-horse", rapresented with the body of a winged horse in dragon scale; seeing this creature was seen as an omen of a legendary sage-ruler.
