[PAPWORTH, JOHN BUONAROTTI]. Select Views of London with Historical and Descriptive Sketches of some of the most interesting of the Public Buildings. London: R. Ackermann, 1816. First edition in book form, plates with the Whatman 1815 watermark, the issue with the author's name on the title (no priority). Half red morocco in cloth slipcase. 10 x 7 inches (25 x 17 cm); title, [8], 169 pp., with 76 hand-colored plates of London views, of which 5 are folding. Light binding wear, but overall a sound copy, though with the usual offsetting of plates to text and some foxing. Marginal tear to one plate (Warwick House). 1818 inscription (and one from 1887) on front blank.
A fine Ackermann production, the plates of which are mostly aquatint, with some line engraving, all delicately hand-colored. Abbey Scenery 217.
