California School, "California Landscape at Sunset," early 20th c., oil on canvas board, unsigned, presented in a gilt frame, H.- 17 1/4 in., W.- 23 1/2 in., Framed H.- 24 3/4 in., W.- 30 7/8 in.
Condition Report: There is some surface dirt throughout, as well as splatter in the sky on the proper right side. There are two circular splatter marks in the bottom area of the painting, in the foliage and sand areas. One dark speck of paint or something on the top proper left side, which can probably be cleaned. Minor paint loss visible on the proper top left corner, possibly from frame rubbing on canvas. Both the painting and the frame could benefit from a cleaning. The frame has some nicks here and there and splatter mainly to the bottom proper left. This is a very handsome example. We do not know what or if the artist titled the piece, however the consignor provided information that indicated it was from California. ________________________________________________________________________________ ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS."
