Candlestick (2) - Brass - First half 18th century
A beautiful pair of brass altar candlesticks of impressive dimensions (Height 108 cm, weight 16 and 15. 7 kg) . Original pieces from the first half of the 18th century. These are not modern replicas. The base of each candlestick is casted in one single piece, the patina is excellent; the baluster stem has a large knot and three sets of mouldings. The workmanship, and the supporting feet in particular, lead back to the early 18th century Venetian school (see the last pictures from specialised websites) . Both pieces show normal signs of ageing and very little superficial damage; the heavier candlestick has some superficial stains and cracks documented in the photos which faithfully reproduce the items condition, without any graphic processing.
