Canyon Diablo Meteorite Iron, IAB-MG Meteor Crater, Coconino County Arizona, USA Found: 1891 Shaped somewhat like a hand axe tool but a bit too inflated and heavy to be useful as one, this solid and aesthetic chunk of meteorite is a Canyon Diablo associated with the Meteor Crater in Arizona. The exterior of the Iron meteorite features prominent regmaglypt 'thumbprint' indentations giving the dark and highly textural surface an attractive visual appeal. The metallic example is replete with a dusting of natural patina that gives a reddish tone to the mainly dark, blackish-brown rock. This representation of the quintessential American meteorite is solid and dense weighing just about 2.3 kilograms (5 pounds).
