"Carlo Emanuele III, King of Sardinia", genuine antique copper engraved portrait by Georg Paul Busch, c.1730-1756. Portrait of half-length, facing front, wearing armor; within a frame, upon a plinth, Latin inscription, "Carolus Emanuel Victor, Rex Sardiniae." Framed in double mat and glass frame.
Cut to design, 3.1/2" x c.5.3/4" [91mm x 142mm]; the bottom margin with the signature "Busch, sculpt." is cut off; the engraving is attached to the larger laid paper; double picture mat, glass frame 9.1/2" x 12" [24.2cm x 30.5cm], one frame corner is slightly damaged, some aging, very good condition.
Authentic eighteenth-century copper engraving.

Georg Paul Busch (c.1713-1756) was a German engraver, student of Constantin Friedrich Blesendorf; teacher of Georg Friedrich Schmidt. Active in Berlin in the early 18th century. Busch primarily engraved portraits and landscape views.
Provenance:
This engraving comes from a collection of engravings bound by the German art collector "A.L." The finalized collection of hand-numbered engravings is dated 1762 which provides additional warranty that the engravings are authentic and created prior to 1762; auctioned in London, UK.
