While Cartier is known primarily for its jewellery, it also has a history in watchmaking. Bald creations and unusual design were, and still are, the basis for many wristwatch produced by the Parisian brand through all its history. The lot here offered in one of the most mysterious specimens manufactured by Cartier and not much about its history is known: wrongly often referred to as La Cloche, this lot is a representative of the Calandre family, characterized by its particular shape that reminds a stirrup. The yellow gold example here offered is finely preserved with a curved case, deep hallmarks and engravings on the back, one cadenas lug and another one straight. The white dial has painted black Arabic numerals, inner minute track and blued steel épée hands. Powered by a quartz movement, this Calandre is also provided with its original warranty.
