The central rhodolite garnet is, in fact, inset into the amethyst. The color combination is stunning and the look is that of an eye or a portal, a 'mystery jewel' indeed! Necklace is completed by a ring and toggle clasp that is not original to the piece and the metal for these components tests 14k gold. Marked 750, Cartier Paris, 226803. The oval-shaped amethyst measures 25.10 x 15.00 mm. The oval-shaped garnet measures 12.86 x 8.00 mm and shows minor chips to the facet junctions. Completed by a red pouch signed Cartier.
